Return Policy
Under EU consumer law, customers typically have a 14-day right of return for most online purchases. However, made-to-order or custom-made items and all sale items are exempt from this rule and are considered final sales, as outlined in Article 16(c) of the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).
For ready-to-ship products in stock (not marked as sale items), our standard 14-day return policy applies, allowing you to return the item within 14 days of receipt, in accordance with international consumer protection regulations.

- United Kingdom (UK): Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, custom-made or personalized goods are non-returnable unless faulty or not as described.
- United States (US): FTC guidelines do not require returns for custom-made goods unless the product is defective or not as described.
- Australia: Under Australian Consumer Law, businesses are not required to offer refunds for custom-made items unless faulty, not as described, or failing to meet expected quality standards.
- Other Countries: Local regulations may vary, but the principle is similar—returns are typically only accepted if the product is defective or does not match its description.
Sustainability and International Return Policy
At Defaïence, most of our products are made to order, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. This approach reduces waste and prevents overproduction, ensuring we create only what is needed based on your specific order.
Exchange Policy
Although we are not legally required to accept returns for custom-made products, we may offer exchanges for sizing or color adjustments when possible. Please note that sale items are final sale and not eligible for return, refund, or exchange. Customers are responsible for any shipping costs related to exchanges.
Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item. We will evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Refunds

Defaïence offers free standard worldwide shipping on all orders.
Please note that this offer may change throughout the year based on promotions and limited-time offers. When such offers are available, free shipping will automatically be applied at checkout. If shipping costs apply, they will be calculated at the end of your order.
Delivery Time: Maximum of 7 days.
Please be aware that deliveries to rural addresses may take longer.
Taxes and Duties
All product prices include taxes. For orders outside the EU, any applicable customs duties are the responsibility of the customer. While we cannot estimate the amount of duties, your local customs office should be able to provide an estimate.
Defaïence cannot be held responsible for any actions, costs, taxes, or delays due to customs, as these are beyond our control.

To preserve the beauty of your jewelry, please follow these care guidelines:
• Protect from Humidity: Avoid contact with liquids, hand creams, sanitizers, makeup, and perfume. If exposed, dry your jewelry thoroughly to prevent trapped moisture, which can accelerate wear, especially on gold plating.
• Chlorinated and Saltwater: Remove jewelry before swimming, as exposure to chlorinated pools, hot tubs, or the ocean can damage both gold plating and silver.
Silver Jewelry:
• Avoid household cleaners, toothpaste, or abrasive materials that can damage silver, particularly plated or intricately designed pieces.
• Use a silver polishing cloth to gently buff away tarnish and restore its shine.
• For heavily tarnished silver, use a specific silver polish or create a paste by mixing three parts baking soda with one part water.
Always store your jewelry in the Defaïence dust bag or box to protect it from environmental exposure and preserve its quality over time.

GARMENT CARE
Recycled Fabric:
We use recycled polyamide, a versatile, stretchy fabric known for its comfort and fit. To ensure your garments maintain their elasticity and appearance, follow these care instructions:
• Washing: Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. If machine washing, use a gentle cycle and place the garment in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
• Drying: Avoid wringing out recycled polyamide garments. Gently press out excess water and lay flat on a clean towel to air dry. Do not hang, as this may cause stretching. Never use a dryer, as high heat can damage the fabric.
• Ironing: If necessary, iron on the lowest heat setting or use a steam iron, placing a cloth between the iron and the fabric to avoid direct contact.
• Storage: Store garments in a cool, dry place, avoiding prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent fading.
Silk Fabric:
Silk is a luxurious, delicate fabric that requires professional care. For silk garments, dry clean only. Always check the care instructions inside the garment label for specific guidance.
• Drying: Do not wring or twist silk garments. Lay flat on a clean towel to absorb excess water, then reshape the garment and allow it to air dry away from direct sunlight.
• Ironing: Iron silk on the lowest heat setting while slightly damp. Use a cloth to protect the silk from direct contact with the iron, or steam to remove wrinkles.
• Storage: Store silk items in a cool, dry place. Use padded hangers or fold carefully to prevent creasing. Avoid hanging silk garments in direct sunlight to prevent fading.
